The West Indies, already eliminated from the World Cup, turned on their destructive power to crush Super Six qualifiers Kenya by 142 runs at Kimberley Tuesday.
After making 246 for seven off their 50 overs, Vasbert Drakes claimed five for 33 from his 10 overs to send the Africans reeling to 104 all out in 35.5 overs.
The win came far too late to have any bearing on the outcome of Group B from where Kenya, Sri Lanka and New Zealand had already qualified.
But at least it salvaged some pride for Carl Hooper's men who ended the World Cup with 14 points from three wins, two defeats and a costly washout against Bangladesh.
Their innings had been based on opener Chris Gayle's 119, the fifth one-day international century of his career, and 66 from Shivnarine Chanderpaul.
"It's been a very disappointing World Cup for us but a lot of the players in the squad are still young and we will
bounce back," said Gayle.
"We just have to make sure we go home with our heads high so that we can face the Australians when they tour in April with confidence."
Kenya were seeking their second win over the Windies to follow their shock triumph at the 1996 World Cup but they were never in the chase and their lack of resistance to fast bowling hinted at huge problems ahead when they come up against Australia, India and Zimbabwe in the next stage.
Drakes's figures were the best of his career beating the five for 44 he took against Canada earlier in the tournament and took him to 16 wickets in the World Cup.
