PM hopes a solution would be found
to Cauvery water dispute

Prime Minister Atal Bihari on Monday hoped that a solution would be found to the Cauvery water dispute.

"The matter is before the Supreme Court and I hope the controversy will be resolved," Vajpayee told newsmen before leaving on an official tour of Cyprus, Denmark and Britain.

Vajpayee said the theme of his discussions with the leaders of the three countries would be India's immediate concern on terrorism and the status of the global coalition against international terrorism.

The prime minister will also attend the third India-EU Summit in Copenhagen.

Regarding the extradition of underworld don Abu Salem, currently under detention in Portugal, the he said: "Government-level talks are on."

Asked whether the issue would figure during the India-EU summit, Vajpayee said: The issue of terrorism will be raised at all fora including this one."
