BJP sets 8% GDP growth rate target

The Bharatiya Janata Party on Saturday set a goal for the NDA government to achieve eight per cent growth in the gross domestic product and create an action plan for fulfilling the promise of ten million new employment opportunities to propel the nation to the status of a developed country.

Setting out five tasks for the government in a draft document, ''Delhi Pledge'', adopted at the National Council meeting in New Delhi, the BJP also called for further intensifying the fight to end cross-border terrorism, laying more focus on agriculture, rural development and panchayati raj institutions, and revitalising the implementation machinery.
