Khagen Das wins West Tripura LS seat

Election 2002 CPI-M candidate Khagen Das defeated his nearest rival Manik Deb of the Congress by a margin of 1,48,814 votes in the bye-elections for the West Tripura parliamentary constituency, official sources said in Agartala.

Das polled 3,91,975 votes while Deb polled 2,43,161 votes.

Trinamul Congress candidate Sudhir Ranjan Majumder forfeited his deposit after securing only 34,243 votes.
