WATCH: Danny Denzongpa's Chilling Scenes

Danny Denzongpa made a career out instilling fear on our minds with his brilliant villainous portrayals in the movies.

The actor, who has worked in movies like Ghatak, Hum and Agneepath, turns 64 today.

We celebrate him by looking at some chilling scenes from some of his movies. Take a look:

Ghatak: Lethal (1996)

In Ghatak, Danny played a gangster called Katya who terrorises over the shopkeepers in his area.

When Sunny Deol stands up against Katya, watch the video to see what the goon does to him!

The film went on to become a superhit, as audiences cheered Sunny and Danny alike.

Trivia about Danny: Danny's real name is Tshering Phintso Denzongpa. His classmate Jaya Bachchan at Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) gave him the name Danny so that it would be easier to pronounce.

Hum (1991)

Bhaktavar is a cruel businessman and don, who makes life hell for Amitabh Bachchan's Tiger when the latter revolts against him.

But he loves his daughter intensely, and can go through any extent to protect her if any harm befalls her.

Trivia about Danny: Danny loves horses and horse riding. His love for the animal started when he was young, as his family was into horse breeding.

Agneepath (1990)

Danny's Kancha Cheena comes to Mandwa to start an illegal business of smuggling drugs. When a local teacher tries to stop him, he is killed.

While Sanjay Dutt played Kancha Cheena well in Karan Johar's Agneepath, purists will always prefer Danny's version.

Trivia about Danny: Danny wanted to join the army and was qualified to join the Armed Forces Medical College, Pune. At the last minute, he withdrew his admission and joined FTII instead.

Kalicharan (1976)

Danny's Shaakha is a handicapped gangster, who hoards foodgrains from poor people. Kalicharan (Shatrughan Sinha) challenges him to a fight, and that is one of the highlights of this film.

Trivia about Danny: Danny loved singing. At FTII, one of his subjects was music. He went on to sing with top singers like Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle, Mohammed Rafi and Kishore Kumar.

Dharmatma (1975)

Jankura (Danny) has a one-sided love affair with Hema Malini's Reshma, who falls in love with Ranbir (Feroz Khan).

Trivia about Danny: Danny started his career with a B-grade film called Zaroorat in 1971. With a letter of recommendation from Jaya Bachchan, he got Mere Apne where he played a positive role.

Kala Sona (1975)

In Kala Sona as well, Danny played a positive character.

He forms a partnership with Feroz Khan's character, and they fight the local good Poppy Singh (Prem Chopra).

Trivia about Danny: Danny was signed for Sholay. But he had also signed Dharmatma with Feroz Khan at around the same time, the shooting for which was in Afghanistan. So he had to give up Sholay.

Fakira (1976)

Vijay aka Fakira (Shashi Kapoor) and Ajay aka Toofan (Danny) are brothers separated at birth. They grow up to hate each other -- in fact, Toofan is a hitman who has been sent to kill Fakira. In this scene, Danny fights with Shetty (Rohit Shetty's father).

Trivia about Danny: There many films of Danny feels embarrassed about -- one among them is Ponga Pandit. He played a singer who had to dance wearing a huge hat. It was so big that even his face could not be seen.

Lahu Ke Do Rang (1979)

Suraj (Danny) is the illegimate son of Raj's (Vinod Khanna) father Shamsher. At first, they cannot get along with each other. But later, misunderstandings clear and they become close.

Trivia about Danny: Danny wrote and acted in a Nepali film Saiino, which became a superhit. It was directed by his nephew Ugyen Chhopel. Danny sung the title song and a duet with Udit Narayan's wife Deepa. Later, he remade the film into a Hindi telefilm called Ajnabi.

Robot (2010)

Dr Vaseegaran (Rajinikanth) prepares a Robot named Chitti and presents it in front of a panel, headed by Dr Bohra (Danny). Even after all these years, Danny made a great impact with his role.

Trivia about Danny: Danny married a Sikkimese princess Gawa, from Gangtok. They have a son named Rinzing and a daughter named Pema.

Luck (2009)

Danny's Lakhan abducts Imran Khan's Ram Mehra and offers him money to gamble with him for 20 days. The film bombed but Danny still had his charm in place.

Trivia about Danny: Danny is a painter, writer and sculptor. He owns two breweries in South Sikkim and Orissa.
